ALPHA COURSES
Millions
of people across the world have attended an
Alpha Course, an
opportunity to explore the meaning of life, running in tens of
thousands of churches of all denominations across the globe.
Alpha is an opportunity for anyone and everyone to explore the
Christian faith in a relaxed, non-threatening setting over ten
thought-provoking weekly sessions, with a day or weekend away.
It's low key, friendly and fun and is supported by all the main
Christian faiths.
At New Life we run three Alpha courses. A main
course, Alpha for Seniors and Youth Alpha. Contact details for each of
these are shown at the end of this page. All courses follow
approximately the same pattern but
A typical Alpha evening runs something like
this.....(approximate timings!)
7.15 p.m. Supper or Light Meal
The
course begins with a meal of some kind provided by volunteers
from our church (food is guaranteed to be really great!!) Participants
sit round at tables to encourage people to get to know each other.
8.00 p.m. Talk and DVD
The
main part of the evening where we either have a talk or raise a
popular issue relating to the Christian faith. Included in this
section of the evening is more background to the
Alpha
course.
8.15 p.m. Coffee Break
After
the talk and DVD
the end of the talk, we break for a cup of coffee and a chance
to chat amongst ourselves.
8.45 p.m. Small Groups/Summary/Course ends
Many
past attenders of our Alpha
courses have found a small group sessions to be the most
valuable and rewarding times of the whole course. This is is an
opportunity to chat/discuss in a non-threatening and relaxed
environment.
