Phil Gilbert was appointed as an Elder in January 2009. Originally from London, Phil moved to Worthing in 1991 and married Mary in 1992. He became a Christian 3 months after attending New Life's first ever Alpha Course (as a reluctant guest dragged along by his wife!) in 1996. He has been involved with Alpha in various ways for about 13 years, and Phil and Mary are now Alpha advisers for Worthing.

Phil has also been involved in leading home groups within the church and has a longing to see churches of all denominations working more closely together. Phil enjoys cooking and believes that every meal should be on fire with chillies!! For relaxation Phil & Mary enjoy walking their skinny Lurcher called ‘Suzie’
