TORCH TRUST is a Christian organisation with a worldwide vision for people with sight loss. The Torch Trust website provides both text and audio downloads. Please click here

Torch is a Mission..... committed to sharing in both words and actions the love of God shown in Jesus. Torch seeks to operate in accordance with the principles taught by the Holy Bible.

Torch is Fellowship.....where blind and sighted people meet on equal terms. Some 130 Torch Fellowship Groups meet informally on a monthly basis across the UK, with many more overseas.

Torch is Holidays.....that are designed especially for visually impaired people and offer more opportunity for fellowship. Torch’s Holiday and Retreat Centre offers a varied programme of holidays to suit young and old. Torch also runs house parties at Christian conventions - and holidays abroad too, quietly situated in the Sussex village of Hurstpierpoint with views of the South Downs the Torch Holiday & Retreat Centre is the ideal centre in which to refresh mind, body and spirit. Torch is Something to Read.....in braille, giant print, audio and electronic media. Torch publishes six magazines, produces Bibles, hymn books, Scripture text calendars, tactile greetings cards, books and booklets, and operates a large free postal library of Christian books in accessible media.

Torch Headquarters....has a staff of around 40 people in the UK. One third of the staff are visually impaired, as are half the Trustees. The main office and production centre is located in Leicestershire and has an office in Northern Ireland. Around 1000 volunteers from across the UK contributing their time to transcription work, the running of Fellowship Groups and much else.

Torch International....is based near Blantyre in Malawi, one of Africa’s poorest countries. Here a team of five African staff operate a braille unit producing Bibles and other books in African languages. Around 60 Torch Fellowship Groups meet in villages across the country and through Torch’s AID AFRICA programme much is done to help in practical ways.

Volunteers! We rely on volunteers for driving, setting up, preparing and serving food, befriending, sitting chatting and assisting with needs. Front of house - pianist, singers, running the stall, clearing up. We are always in need of people!

A Fresh Focus for the Next Five Years from Torch HQ....

People starting out on the journey of sight loss are to be a new and added focus of Torch ministry, it was announced at the organisation’s annual Thanksgiving. One hundred people every day in Britain are given such a diagnosis. Only five of them have someone with them when they hear the news that no medical intervention can prevent them from going blind and only one in 12 are ever offered any sort of counselling.

We want to serve them in the name of Christ, to be companions on that journey: a regional work of national scope but with local delivery

Torch Worthing & Durrington meetings.....We meet on the third Saturday of each month at the Jubilee Hall from 2.30 - 4.00 p.m. Up to 50 people meet for tea (sandwiches and cakes) and fellowship. Each month there are different speakers and soloists. Transport is available.
